Who is behind ShireQuid?
I write as Ryan Shire, the name behind ShireQuid’s articles and books. I created ShireQuid because understanding economics and managing everyday money are not the same thing.
My background is in economics. I hold a master’s degree specialising in business control and analysis. It gave me a strong analytical foundation, but I completed my studies around 30 years ago, and financial products, tax rules and legislation have changed considerably since then. That is why ShireQuid uses current sources, careful checking and practical explanations rather than relying on qualifications alone.
Like many people, I still learned some of the practical lessons the hard way – overdrafts, missed savings opportunities, and that sinking feeling when payday arrives and disappears in the same breath. Sound familiar?
ShireQuid exists to give UK workers the tools, breakdowns, and honest advice I wish I had when I started out. No jargon, no fluff, no trying to sell you a course you do not need.
What you will find here
Practical guides on saving, investing, and budgeting that actually work on a normal salary. Reviews of tools and software that can save you time and money. The Stock Scorer – a free tool to help you compare investments using a simple research framework.
I am also the author of The Skint Professional, a book for anyone who wants to get their finances sorted without pretending to be a City trader.
This is not financial advice
ShireQuid provides general information for educational purposes only. I am not a financial adviser and nothing on this site should be taken as personal financial advice. Always do your own research or speak to a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
